The track “Miniskirt” (짧은 치마) by AOA is currently experiencing a surprising resurgence on the charts, thanks to its use as the soundtrack for the viral meme “골반통신.”

As of October 22, “Miniskirt” ranked 129th on the daily chart of the Korean music platform Melon. Searches for the song have also spiked on Spotify and YouTube Music, while older performance videos of “Miniskirt” by AOA are seeing a surge in comments.
Originally released in 2014, “Miniskirt” is one of AOA’s signature songs. With its sensual and rhythmic hip-hop beat, the track earned the group its very first win on a major Korean music show, marking the beginning of its golden era.
Eleven years after its release, the song has resurfaced thanks to a short storytelling-style video by the creator Ponggwi, which went viral on social media.

The video begins with the line, “What if my hips just kept moving?” and shows Pongki dancing to the instrumental of “Miniskirt”. Depending on the speed of his movements, captions such as “Anomaly detected! Switching to accelerated mode!” and “Anxiety detected! Switching to nervous mode!” appear, along with the phrase “골반통신,” which quickly became a meme in itself.
Soon after, numerous influencers and idols, including NMIXX, NCT WISH, and TRIPLES, joined the “골반통신 challenge,” further fueling the trend.
The repetitive and addictive instrumental of “Miniskirt” has led to a wave of rediscovery of the original track.
As more and more listeners search for “Miniskirt”, attention is now turning to whether the song will make its way into the TOP 100, driven by this “accelerated resurgence trend.”
