NEWJEANS member DANIELLE was recently spotted enjoying her hobby, running, just days after losing the first-instance lawsuit regarding her exclusive contract with ADOR. The situation remains tense, as NEWJEANS promptly announced plans to appeal, extending the ongoing dispute.
On November 2, marathon coach Lee Yeon Jin shared on his account: “DANIELLE and I had a happy 10K together. PB achieved in 46 minutes, congratulations! DANIELLE is truly amazing and runs so well,” accompanied by a photo. The image shows DANIELLE and Lee Yeon Jin celebrating their 10K run, holding their medals and beaming widely after crossing the finish line.
This athletic outing comes after the October 30 ruling by the Seoul Civil Court (Division 41, Judge Jeong Hoe-il), which upheld NEWJEANS’ exclusive contract with ADOR and ordered the group to bear legal costs. The court determined that NEWJEANS’ reasons for attempting to terminate the contract, including the dismissal of former director Min Heejin and measures for member protection—did not constitute a contract violation.
Following the decision, NEWJEANS’ law firm, Sejong Law, stated that while it respects the ruling, the complete breakdown of trust with ADOR makes it impossible for the group to resume normal activities under the agency, and announced an immediate appeal.
For context, NEWJEANS initially announced the contract termination in November last year, citing a breakdown of trust. ADOR then requested an injunction to block the group’s independent activities pending the main trial, which the court fully approved. Despite multiple appeals, the injunction has remained in effect.
Since March, following the Complex Live concert in Hong Kong, NEWJEANS has been on hiatus, with their “SUPERNATURAL” album (June 2024) as their most recent official release. During this nearly 18-month pause, the members’ public appearances have been rare, making DANIELLE’s recent running hobby a rare glimpse into her daily life.
DANIELLE has also been seen running with other celebrities, including singer Sean and actor Park Bo Gum, drawing fans’ attention to her regular dedication to the sport.
