NAM TAE HYUN
The singer NAM TAE HYUN, former member of the boy group WINNER, who had previously caused controversy for illegal drug use, will stand trial for drunk driving.

According to legal circles this Monday, the Seoul Western District Court has scheduled the first hearing in NAM TAE HYUN’s drunk-driving trial for December 11. He is charged with violating the Road Traffic Act.
NAM TAE HYUN is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident near Dongjak Bridge on the Gangbyeonbuk-ro highway toward Goyang in Gyeonggi Province around 4:10 a.m. KST on April 27.
He is said to have hit a median strip while attempting to pass a vehicle in front of him. No one was injured in the accident. A police investigation revealed that his blood-alcohol level was high enough to result in license revocation, 0.08 or higher.
Before this incident, NAM TAE HYUN had been sentenced in January last year to one year in prison for violating the Narcotics Control Act. The sentence was suspended for two years.
On May 2 of this year, the police requested an arrest warrant for NAM TAE HYUN, noting that he had driven drunk while on probation. The court dismissed the request, determining that there were not sufficient grounds to detain him at the preliminary hearing.
In March 2023, NAM TAE HYUN had also been fined 6 million won (3,500 euros) in a summary judgment for a drunk-driving accident that occurred during a separate drug investigation.
NAM TAE HYUN debuted as a member of WINNER in 2013. He left the group in 2016 and founded his own label, The South, in 2017.
