The leader of I-DLE, SOYEON, sincerely shared the primitive anxiety and inner worries she had kept hidden until now.
SOYEON appeared on February 3 on KIAN84’s YouTube channel, “인생84”, where she talked about the extreme stress related to the album production process as well as lesser-known fears. SOYEON confessed
“I tend to be extremely stressed every time I make an album. I check all the risks with every department of the company, and the day before the album release, I’m extremely nervous”.
She then shared her state of mind, explaining that she is extremely cautious in her daily life out of fear of becoming the center of controversies. She stated “One day, without realizing it, a piece of trash fell out of my pocket while I was walking, and I jumped, thinking people might say ‘she threw away trash’, so I picked it up quickly”, expressing the difficulty of having to constantly monitor herself down to the smallest gestures. She also recounted an anecdote in which, after seeing a disaster alert, she thought an actual war had broken out and took refuge in the stairwell, adding “I really thought war had broken out, and after that, I got my driver’s license. I wanted to escape by car, but I didn’t have one”, eliciting both laughter and compassion.
SOYEON explained in particular that this side of herself was the opposite of the image she had shown to the public until now. SOYEON stated
“In reality, it was kind of a secret. In terms of image, I wanted to give the impression of someone who doesn’t care about anything. I think today is the first time I’ve said that I’m someone who worries a lot”.
When asked what her biggest source of worry was, SOYEON gave an unexpected answer, saying “What worries me the most is dying”. SOYEON explained “There are so many people who die every day. That’s why I try to take good care of my health”, while emphasizing “I really want to live a long time. In good health”. She continued “I want to take care of all the people who matter to me and die last, so I’d like to live to be 100 like that”, revealing a strong attachment to life and a great sense of responsibility.
