EVAN
HEESEUNG, a former member of ENHYPEN, has made a new start under the name EVAN.

The first profile of EVAN unveiled on April 9, reveals clearly a direction. It highlights an image excluding decorations, with unstyled hair and minimal makeup. The agency BELIFT LAB explained: “He expressed the purest form of himself”. The name is also the one he has used since childhood, and it was presented as a keyword symbolizing his musical identity.
HEESEUNG declared his ambitions:
“It’s a name that I’ve used since my childhood, imbued with precious memories. I’m going to bring out this name that I created when I was little to present EVAN with a new spirit. I will approach fans step by step with music that fully contains my most honest and natural appearance”.
Previously, HEESEUNG also shared his feelings directly about his departure from ENHYPEN via a platform. He expressed his gratitude toward the members and fans, calling his 6 years of activities within ENHYPEN “precious time that cannot be fully expressed in words”. At the same time, he explained himself the reason for this change by stating: “I took a big decision to approach with a better appearance”.
The agency also explained the context of HEESEUNG‘s independence as being “the result of in-depth discussions on his musical direction”. It emphasized that it is a decision resulting from sufficient discussions with the members. It thus clarified that it is a matter of choice and not a conflict.

BELIFT LAB The challenge is the “persuasion of the transition”. Within ENHYPEN, HEESEUNG was a multi-player capable of taking care of vocals, performance and even production. He has already proven his singer-songwriter abilities through songs such as “Highway 1009”. His competitiveness as a solo is already established.
However, the market is cold. The key variables are the amount of group fandom that he can bring individually, and the speed with which the new name EVAN will be engraved. Particularly, the recent K-pop scene is close to a state of saturation, even for the solo market. Without a differentiated music and narrative, the attention fades quickly.
In the end, this choice is akin to an “expansion having taken a risk”. He left a stable group to choose a personal narrative. As he even changed his name, it looks more like a redefinition of identity than a simple transition of activity. The eyes of the industry are focusing to see if this change, as EVAN and not HEESEUNG, will become another success case.
