SHINee’s TAEbMIN set the stage ablaze at the largest music festival in the United States, the “Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival” (hereafter “Coachella”), establishing a new milestone as a Korean male solo artist.
TAEMIN took the Mojave stage in Indio, California, on the 11th (local time) at 7:30 PM for an exclusive 50-minute performance. This marks the first time a Korean male solo singer has been featured on the official “Coachella” lineup for a dedicated solo set.
The highlight of the day was the symbolic opening utilizing the “Sphere.” Beginning with a sequence where he emerged from a giant egg-shaped sphere, the first section captivated the audience by visualizing a message of “self-liberation,” breaking free from the trials imposed by others and original sin. During this section, TAEMIN performed “Sexy in the air,” “Want,” as well as the new tracks “Permission” and “Parasite,” completing a narrative in perfect harmony with the sphere situated behind the stage.
In particular, the new English song “Parasite” left a deep impression by addressing the issue of “hate” in modern society. The staging was remarkable, using spotlight beams to project adapted lyrics and translated quotes in Korean onto the stage. The sensory visual of Hangeul letters flowing like water over the bodies of TAEMIN and his dancers effectively conveyed the song’s intrinsic message, transcending the language barrier.

Toward the end of the set, he followed up with “Let me be the one,” “Sober,” and “1004 (Oct 4th),” taking the unusual step of unveiling a total of six new songs for the first time at “Coachella.”
