The group CORTIS has unveiled the tracklist for its 2nd mini-album “GREENGREEN”.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, Keonho) published the tracklist, including song titles and credit information, on the group’s official social networks on April 13 at 9 p.m. KST. A total of 6 songs appear there, including the title track “Redred“, as well as “Tnt“, “Acai“, “Youngcreatorcrew“, “Wassup“, and “Blue lips“.
The five members all inscribed their names in the credits. After their first record, they once again organized a song camp in Los Angeles, USA, and co-created most of the tracks. In particular, all members participated in the work on the songs “Redred“, “Acai“, “Youngcreatorcrew“, and “Wassup“, adding a special touch. CORTIS took charge of not only writing and composition, but also choreography and video production, breathing their own tastes into the contents.
The track that naturally generates the most expectation is the title song “Redred“. It sincerely expresses what the team strives for through “GREEN” and what it is wary of through “RED“. This song is like the starting point of a journey to explore CORTIS‘s own direction, by breaking free from the norms and rules of the world. It is characterized by lyrics full of personality and an addictive melody, completed by the collective reflection of all members. It offers a fresh sound by adding a repetitive and catchy rhythm over a raw synthesizer. Bang Si Hyuk, the chairman of HYBE, also lent a helping hand. “Redred” can be discovered through the sound source and the music video this coming April 20, before the release of the album.
The experience and tastes of the members are infused into the tracks. “Tnt“, which condenses the burning energy of the team ready to explode, and “Acai“, having as its subject the acai bowls they ate every day while working on the record, stimulate curiosity by their titles alone. “Youngcreatorcrew” is a song that delivers their honest thoughts on the qualifier representing the team. “Wassup” deals with the daily life and emotions having changed after their debut. The last track, “Blue lips“, is a song about dreams and wounds that started from a personal composition by MARTIN during his trainee years.
The panoramic image published with the tracklist is an idea from CORTIS. JUHOON smiles while pronouncing the first letter “T” of “Tnt” and JAMES holds a red lightstick reminiscent of “Redred“. The handshake of MARTIN and KEONHO signifies “Wassup“, and the lips stretched by SEONGHYEON signify “Blue lips“. Like the emphasis placed on unadorned naturalness in the previously released album photos, they highlight once again a feeling of “raw” as is, a new texture.
The 2nd mini-album of CORTIS, “GREENGREEN”, will be released on May 4. It is a comeback 8 months after their debut album. According to the distributors YG PLUS and UNIVERSAL RECORDS, as of April 13, three weeks before the release, pre-orders for the new opus recorded 2,020,224 copies. Attention is focused on the question of whether they will become a “double million seller” for the second consecutive time after their debut album.
