The boy group BTS will take the stage of the “AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS” (hereinafter “AMA”) for the first time in 5 years.
According to the announcement of the “AMA” on May 20 (hereinafter local time), BTS will attend the awards ceremony that will be held on May 25 at 5 PM at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. It is the first time in about 5 years since 2021 that they directly participate in the “AMA”.
BTS is attempting once again to win the grand prize at the “AMA”, one of the three largest popular music awards ceremonies in the United States. They have been nominated in the “ARTIST OF THE YEAR” category, which is equivalent to the grand prize. They compete with 9 global pop stars including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga. BTS became the first Korean artist to clinch this award in 2021, leaving a distinct footprint in the history of world music.
In addition to this, they are nominated in a total of 3 categories, including “BEST MALE K-POP ARTIST” and “SONG OF THE SUMMER”. For “SONG OF THE SUMMER”, the title song “Swim” from their 5th regular album “ARIRANG” was nominated. Unveiled last March 20, this track drew attention by being included in the list of nominees announced on April 14.
BTS has clinched a total of 12 trophies at the “AMA” as a group and in solo. They experienced the joy of a first award in 2018 with “FAVORITE SOCIAL ARTIST” and dominated this category for 3 consecutive years until 2020. In 2019, they won “TOUR OF THE YEAR”, demonstrating their powerful influence also in the performance world. Starting with “FAVORITE DUO OR GROUP – POP/ROCK” the very same year, they remained at the top in the pop duo/group category for 4 consecutive years until 2022, leaving their name as the artist who won the largest number of awards in history in this category.
In 2021, they achieved the treble by sweeping “ARTIST OF THE YEAR”, “FAVORITE DUO OR GROUP” as well as “FAVORITE POP SONG”. In 2022, they became the very first winners of the newly created “FAVORITE K-POP ARTIST” category. Then, in 2025, RM won the trophy in this same category.
BTS will organize the “BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN LAS VEGAS” during a total of four days, on the 23rd, 24th, 27th, and 28th, at the Allegiant Stadium located in Las Vegas in the United States.
