SM ENTERTAINMENT partners with global IP content company SAMG ENTERTAINMENT (CEO KIM SU HOON, hereinafter SAMG ENTER) to launch into the co-production of an animation on the theme of K-pop.

SM Entertainment announced on July 27 having concluded a co-production contract for the animation “SUPERHERO IDOL PROJECT” (tentative title) with SAMG ENTER and promoting the development of a new animation IP aiming at the international market.
“SUPERHERO IDOL PROJECT” is a commercial IP project of scale combining the universe of K-pop and animation content, designed in the form of a series of a total of 13 episodes of about 20 minutes each, with the objective of a release on international OTT platforms in 2028.

In particular, this project mainly targets teenagers up to the 2030 generation, and plans to present new content aiming simultaneously at the K-pop fandom and the animation public thanks to a differentiated narrative where artists’ IP and the superhero narrative intertwine.
SM Entertainment participates not only in the planning and production of main music inserted in the work, but also in the overall singing and performance, and it is expected that it will raise the level of perfection of the work and offer an unprecedented pleasure on the basis of music production know-how and performance capabilities that SM Entertainment has accumulated over a long time.
In addition, the two companies plan to evolve this project beyond animation production to make it an “integrated IP business” business model capable of widening the field of activity to various sectors such as music, concerts, management, and video licensing.
