Plunge into the heart of twenty years of legendary history through a unique sensory immersion right in the middle of Seoul.
It is a must-attend event for all K-pop fans. From August 14 to 23, the South Korean capital vibrates to the rhythm of the iconic group BIGBANG, who shaped an entire generation. Our reporter Anaïs went to the venue today to experience this memorable event. Although videos are strictly prohibited inside the event grounds, she was able to capture incredible shots to offer us an exclusive glimpse.
Right from the entrance on the 6th floor of the Lotte World Tower, in the Avenuel Jamsil Art Hall, visitors are immediately immersed in a captivating universe. An impressive installation of television screens traces the defining moments of the artists’ two-decade career. On the side, bilingual explanatory panels in English and Korean allow visitors to rediscover the concept behind this retrospective. In the center, a master panel reveals the members, G-DRAGON, TAEYANG, DAESUNG, while their portraits are also unveiled as striking holograms.
Continuing the visit, you enter a second room bathed in an intense and enveloping red light. Suspended headphones are provided there to allow the public to listen back to the great classics of the group’s musical repertoire. During our reporter’s walkthrough, the famous tracks “Lies” and “Haru haru” were playing, offering a moment of pure audio nostalgia.
The exploration then continues on the lower level, on floor B1. Fans discover a large official photo enhanced by handwritten signatures and accompanied by various archival items and memorabilia. To perfect this tour, a major surprise awaits visitors outside: a massive inflatable lightstick set up near the lake, perfect for an outdoor souvenir photo.
As for access to the official souvenir shop, it was designed in an original and highly controlled manner. Upon leaving the exhibition space, each visitor receives a specific paper form on which they must mark the items they wish to purchase. Without this precious pass distributed at the exit, entering the shop is strictly impossible, making the guided tour a mandatory step to get merchandise.
This twentieth anniversary celebration does not stop at this magnificent media retrospective. The group is preparing a highly anticipated comeback across its entire worldwide community. Indeed, the realization of these two decades of existence will begin in just a week with 3 days of concerts in Seoul on August 21, 22, and 23 at Goyang Stadium, before embarking on a world tour.
This event retrospective proves once again that the musical legacy and cultural impact of the group BIGBANG remain forever etched in the history of the music industry.
