SEONGHWA from ATEEZ graced the cover of the September issue of the global fashion magazine “WWD KOREA”.
The title of this cover story is “IN HIS GOLDEN HOUR”, tracing the present and the time to come of SEONGHWA, who is approaching his 8th debut anniversary. In the revealed photos, SEONGHWA unveils an even deeper charm, ranging from his characteristic intense charisma to a more natural and relaxed appearance.
After the photoshoot, SEONGHWA shared his thoughts: “I learned that there is no need to add anything and that one can shine sufficiently by simply being as they are today.”
In the interview, he delivered candid stories about the past 8 years traveled by ATEEZ, the present, and the future. He revealed his unwavering sincerity toward the stage, confiding that despite a tour well exceeding 100 dates, he and the members continue to make the promise to each other: “Let’s act as if today were the last day.”
Regarding the recent activities for “Bad”, he shared the feelings experienced upon noticing the enthusiastic reactions after the promotion, as well as the process where certainties and doubts repeated about the music and style. SEONGHWA also mentioned his favorite quote, “Do your best and let heaven decide”, stating: “I had the feeling that people ended up recognizing what I did with perseverance without giving in on my convictions.”
A change also occurred in his vision of fashion. While he used to stick to a precise style in the past, SEONGHWA, who now chooses his clothes freely according to his mood of the day, declared: “Fashion is a flexible way to express one’s mood of the day.”
He also unveiled new challenges outside the stage. Having recently started fencing, SEONGHWA expressed his wish to participate in an amateur competition one day, and also gave news about learning the guitar. He always carries a tablet, a book, and a notebook to write poems when he goes on tour or for overseas schedules. In particular, he presented his own habit of keeping moments in memory for a long time by recording his emotions of the moment through poetry.
He did not forget his affection for the fans either. SEONGHWA described the moment when he looks at the audience during the final bow of a concert as “the brightest moment of my life”. He then addressed his sincerity to the members of ATEEZ:
“Thank you for making constant efforts for 8 years. I absolutely want to tell you that you really made immense efforts and that I thank you.”
