CHAERYEONG of the group ITZY is taking her first steps as a solo artist 7 years after her debut.
Becoming the third member of the group to launch a solo career following YEJI and YUNA, CHAERYEONG presents an album that expresses through a unique lens the moment one falls in love.
Her agency, JYP ENTERTAINMENT, revealed on October 19 on its official social networks the trailer, tracklist, and promotional schedule for CHAERYEONG‘s first solo mini-album, “Lovesick”. CHAERYEONG will begin her solo activities by releasing the mini-album “Lovesick” and the title song of the same name on November 9 at 6 p.m. KST.
The trailer, which offers a glimpse into the album’s atmosphere, captures attention with a structure reminiscent of reading a book. In the video, CHAERYEONG appears as a character who hardly lets her mood changes show, no matter what happens around her. She maintains an indifferent attitude whether in front of a birthday cake or when winning the lottery. Even when faced with a phone catching fire, noise coming from the upstairs neighbor, or a floor covered in moss, her reaction does not really change.
However, as CHAERYEONG, usually so impassive, begins to take an interest for the first time in a special presence, the story takes a new direction. The voiceover continues by saying that she fell in love with precisely “that”, leaving lingering curiosity regarding the feelings experienced by CHAERYEONG and their subject.
According to the tracklist revealed simultaneously, this album will contain a total of 4 tracks, including the title song “Lovesick”, as well as “Moonlit club”, “scent”, and “Favorite reason”. In particular, CHAERYEONG directly participated in writing the lyrics for the fourth track, “Favorite reason”. Having infused her own sensibility into her first solo album, interest is growing as to the story she will tell us.
CHAERYEONG‘s first solo mini-album, “Lovesick”, will be available on November 9 at 6 p.m. KST on various online streaming platforms.
