G-DRAGON and T.O.P were named in the top “Fifty Leading Collector” by the famous American art magazine Art News.
Established in 1902, Art News annually examines the major figures in the art world, including merchants, collectors, auctioneers and curators, and announces the 200 best collectors in the world and, separately, the 50 collectors at note. Although they are not yet the best collectors in the world, a number of promising and emerging young collectors have been included.
In addition to G-DRAGON and T.O.P, the American Troy Carter and the Taiwanese singer Zhou Zerun were also selected on the list recently announced.
G-DRAGON and T.O.P are known for having a strong interest in art and for collecting many works of art.
G-DRAGON collaborated with pure art artists during the 2015 exhibition “Peace Minus One: Beyond the Stage” at the Seoul Museum of Art. Works produced by contemporary artists from here and elsewhere, thanks to their interaction with G-DRAGON, were on display.
G-DRAGON also said that he wrote the song “BAE BAE“, inspired by the work of Irish artist Francis Bacon.

T.O.P participated as auctioneer at the Sotheby’s special charity auction held in Hong Kong in October 2016 and selected the works himself. This is the first time that Sotheby’s has worked with an Asian artist to conduct an auction.
In the past, T.O.P has stated on MBC’s RADIO STAR show that he has spent more than 95% of his income on art and also owns works by Andy Warhol and Kim Hwan-ki.
Kim Hwan-ki, who broke the record for the highest price of the Korean art auction with “Space” at Christie’s auction in Hong Kong in November, is known to be a relative of the maternal side of T.O.P.
To mark the end of the year, major art media around the world are offering such assessments.
HyperAllergic, an online medium specializing in art in the United States, has included a retrospective of Paik Nam-joon from Tate Modern, London, in its 15th edition of this year’s best exhibition outside the United States.
Regarding the retrospective of Paik Nam-joon, which opened in October, the media indicated that if there were doubts about the importance of Paik in the history of art in the twentieth century, the exhibition would certainly calm them down.
