(G)I-DLE: Release of their new single

This Monday, August 3rd, girl group (G) I-DLE – from CUBE ENTERTAINMENT – made an online comeback with the new single “DUMDi DUMDi“.

Consisting of members SOYEON, MIYEON, MINNIE, SOOJIN, YUQI and SHUHUA, the group returns shortly after its very first online concert with a dynamic and summery title. Taking the stage to introduce themselves, the young women express their joy to come back with a new song that they hope will delight their fans around the world. They also confess that having finally held a concert gave them the strength to work hard to come back quickly for their fans, the NEVERLAND. They talk about the solo performances they gave during this event, allowing them to unveil new facets of themselves and experiment new genres. MIYEON, vocalist of the group, also reveals that she would like to prepare a dance demonstration if a new opportunity arises.

“Rather than rating my solo performance 5 / 5, like the other members, I rate it 4.5 / 5 because it could have been perfect only if our fans had been present.” – MINNIE 

SHUHUA, a little anxious, confides that she could not sleep the day before, in a hurry to show their new title, a summer song with an addictive melody that helps overcome the heat of this season. SOYEON, who was involved in the composition, lyrics writing and visual concept planning, is showing unusual enthusiasm.
The pre-posted footage showed MIYEON as an actress who went on vacation alone, MINNIE as a freedom-loving wanderer, SOOJIN as someone who lives in a small house, SOYEON driving in an open car, YUQI as a cowgirl crossing the desert and SHUHUA, as a happy part-time worker, which made fans even more curious for this concept.

In addition, the album, which was released as a sticker book, is available in two versions: “DAY” for the midday sunlight and the coolness of the pool, and “NIGHT”, which allows you to have a look at the party scene at home. SOOJIN then presents a few dance steps before the MV is released and the members altogether perform “DUMDi DUMDi“. Dynamic and smiling, they seem to take pleasure in singing this festive title.

“I don’t think this concept is different from the others, because we participated in the development of this song all together by working as a group. It’s just a new color, unique to (G) I-DLE.” – SOYEON 

For YUQI, the strong point of this comeback is above all the accessories highlighted. For MINNIE, she takes great pride in wearing her pink hair, recommended by the other girls. SOOJIN confesses that the shooting was a little complicated because of the persistent rain for several weeks in South Korea. Finally, SHUHUA recommends to anyone who finds it difficult to endure the summer heat to drink watermelon juice with the air conditioning on to cool off. YUQI then excitedly announces the launch of their Never ending Neverland reality show, which will be available on TV and on their YouTube channel.

A Brazilian journalist particularly asks SOYEON where she draws her inspirations to realize such strong and original concepts with each comeback. The interested one replies that for her, the most important thing is not the concept but the message she wishes to convey in her songs, also shared by the other members, and that the inspirations are only visual and not symbolic. SHUHUA goes on to assign MINNIE the role of the member that best fits the concept of “DUMDi DUMDi“. The group concludes this showcase by thanking anyone who will pay attention to this single for which the six members have trained hard.
