NEW : THE BOYZ’ math king and main vocal

On April 26, we are celebrating CHOI CHANHEE‘s birthday who is better known as NEW.

NEW is a dancer, model and THE BOYZ‘ main vocal. He loves nagging his co-members in a cute way and he hates tomatoes, to the point that he does not feel at ease when he looks at tomato emojis. When people see him for the first time, they often think that he is a strict and cold guy but he is a really friendly, joyful and sensitive person. He is also the group’ selfie king and he oftens teaches the other members how to take the best selfies. And NEW is known to be a math genious since he can easily do mathematics in his head even faster than a calculator.

Before debuting with his co-members, he did many part-time jobs and became a great cooker. He is the member from THE BOYZ who cooks the most and is the one who always grills meat at their dorm.

NEW became a trainee for Cre.ker Entertainment and then a member of THE BOYZ. Alongside his co-members, he participated in a reality show entitled “Flower Snack” just before debuting in order to gain popularity and reveal each of the members. THE BOYZ debuted on December 6, 2017 with title-song “Boy”. After that, the group made many comebacks without rest and showed a bright, cute and cool side with synchronized choreographies. It was during title-song “No Air”‘s promotions that the members gained more confidence during their filming and on stage. The group changed its style to become more mature with more intense choreographies and it attracted people’s attention. This title-song was really popular and they gained many fans who worked hard to bring the group’s first win in a music show during the next comeback with “Bloom Bloom”. Many people think that cute and bright concepts suit NEW better since he has a bright smile and often has light-colored hair. However, he was able to show several sides of himself over the years and also suited more mature and darker concepts as seen on photoshoots, MVs and on stage.

THE BOYZ’ members showed new sides of themselves thanks to a first album in 2020 and title-song “REVEAL”. Then, thanks to several short individual videos released in May 2020, the eleven members were able to answer a few questions in a casual way in order to speak about themselves. Between March and June 2020, NEW participated with his co-members to the reality show “Road to Kingdom” in which seven boy groups had to prepare performances in order to show the best stages and become the winner. THE BOYZ showed the best performances during most of the episodes thanks to a perfect teamwork and was also compared to a professional dance team. On June 12, THE BOYZ released a new song “CHECKMATE” to perform during the show’s last episode. Once again, the members were able to show an impressive performance that shocked many people. They won the show with an impressive score and also won a spot for the next reality show entitled “Kingdom”. During “Road to Kingdom”, NEW was praised for his great vocals and powerful and stable voice. But it was during “Quasi una fantasia” you can watch under, that NEW became a hot topic. Indeed, the members created the shape of a rose during NEW‘s singing part in which his pink hair and great looks impressed many viewers.

THE BOYZ made a comeback which was as impressive as “Road to Kingdom” performances with title-song “The Stealer”. It was a huge success since the group won many victories at music shows and also participated in the end of the year award shows. The groups created several performances which were impressive, but the most incredible one was for the 2020 MAMA. Indeed, the eleven members did a performance on the theme of the kings dressed as Greek gods and showed an perfect choreography with elements that reminded of “Road to Kingdom”. It was like an even better version of the show with the use of fire and many more acrobatics. The aim of this unbelievable performance was to introduce themselves as one of the teams for the upcoming show “Kingdom” released from April 1st.
