BAMBAM releases whimsical first solo album “RIBBON”.
The first half of the year has been pretty busy for multi-hyphenate artist BAMBAM. From GOT7 activities to signing to a new label, Abyss Agency, he has been seen in multiple editorial magazines, emceeing multiple shows, appearing on other variety shows or even being chosen as Yves-Saint-Laurent Beauty for their Thailand branch.

Nearly a month after celebrating his 24th birthday, BAMBAM is now back to music with the release of his very first solo album titled “RIBBON”.
With more than 10 photo teasers, BAMBAM raised expectations of all fans by showcasing various bold fashion styles and a wide range of creative, powerful and bright colors and concepts all revolving around the words ribbon and Pandora – which are the keywords to decipher his newly released album’s imagery.
The highly anticipated project quickly climbed the charts. BAMBAM and his “RIBBON” album have also trended every time a teaser was released and have trended worldwide on social media today – reaching the top of the trends five minutes before the album had been available on streaming platforms. BAMBAM has also beaten a few records established by his group – accumulating more than 10 millions views on Youtube and earning 6 rooftops on the Genie charts – becoming the first solo male artist to do so.
Throughout the very detailed “riBBon” music video production, on which JUS2’s “Focus on me” video director worked, BAMBAM unveiled a facet of himself that fans have been immediately enticed by.
Embracing a very bubbly aesthetic, combining bright pastel colors and fanciful various scenes paired with high fashion vintage suits and detailed choreography, “riBBon” is a great example of BAMBAM’s peculiar and charming energy. The title track “riBBon” expresses this new start, using ribbon as a metaphor for all the upcoming artistic adventures BAMBAM will embark on and that he wishes to experience with fans. The title of the song is thus both a reference to the action of opening a box, a Pandora box, not knowing the outcome of it, embracing the ups and downs of one’s journey, but also a pun on the pronunciation of “riBBon” that is very similar to the verb reborn. This is a new start and BAMBAM is more than ready to step into the scene and show he is an artistic force to reckon with.
With references to the Greek myth of the Box of Pandora, BAMBAM leads us to a fantasy world that can remind one of the magical universes of Alice in Wonderland. Opening the gates of a dream-like imaginary world, BAMBAM embodies a Petit Prince type of character – inviting us to embrace our inner child, like one would welcome a ray of warm light after the rain.
BAMBAM finds himself trapped inside a box, a Pandora box, containing its own fantasy world. He can be seen covered in rainbow confetti, playing on a human-size chessboard, or flying through a sky made of pink eponym boxes and mint pastel clouds, often being surrounded by his own clones.
Dance has been placed at the very core of the music video – BAMBAM is a natural-born dancer, and it is thanks to these skills that his artistic journey started. BAMBAM will surely captivate the eye of his audience.
Fans also pointed out references to famous artworks from movies to books and paintings. Such metaphorical and versatile concepts led fans to drew various interpretations and even create their own artworks.

The EP “RIBBON” contains 6 tracks, including an intro, all varying between progressive EDM and Hip-Hop melodies with songs such as “Pandora” to upbeat dancing tracks like main single “riBBon” and “Look so fine” or even softer ballads with the songs “Air” and “Under the sky”. With famous producers such as Murda Beatz or even earattack, “RIBBON” has guaranteed parts of his success on its solid music production. BAMBAM indeed took part in writing and composing all the songs from the EP, showcasing his well-known versatility.

BAMBAM also held his first showcase to celebrate the release of “RIBBON”. BAMBAM impressed fans with his powerful dance performance of EDM track “Pandora”, lulled his audience with the emotional ballad “Air” and with upbeat summer anthem “riBBon”. He also shared the behind-the-scenes of the creative process, from the meaning of the songs and pictures to fun and personal anecdotes regarding his first solo album.
This album is about the importance of loving, living and enjoying each precious moment as well as a mean to pay back the fans’ love and tremendous support.
He mentioned his conversation with fellow GOT7 members, who have been very supportive of him throughout the process of his first solo EP release. BAMBAM shared his worries and apprehension about doing things on his own before being reassured by his bandmates that he only needs to be himself, to focus on showcasing the best performance he can without putting too much pressure on himself.
He expressed his wish to meet fans as soon as possible, hoping to reach to as many as he can thanks to his music and versatile artistry.
