YUJU, a former member of group GFRIEND, came out on her own as a solo artist, one year and two months after her group activities ended.

This afternoon, singer YUJU held an online press conference to commemorate the release of her solo album “REC.”
That day, YUJU said:
“I went through a lot of new things while preparing my first solo mini-album. It’s fresh, exciting and disturbing. I participated in many parts of this album and I wonder what kind of reaction it will cause.”
Regarding the new album, she said, “The red light comes on at the start of any recording, and it’s an album that has a good tension in it that can only be felt then. The title track “Play” is an attractive song in which cheerful accompaniment and sad lyrics harmonize.”
YUJU, who directly participated in the lyrics for the title track “Play,” said, “I was careful not to try to pretend when writing the lyrics.”
Regarding YUJU as a solo artist, she said, “Even if I sing a song, I want to make music that contains some pieces of my soul. When I worked on preparing the album, I thought I had to be as honest as possible in my music.”
YUJU said, “This album is an album that made me know myself a little more.”
She added, “People live with a variety of thoughts, but only some of them are selected and shown. I think I was like that too. I learn through the album that I’m that kind of person. I want to be an artist that can be seen step by step in the future.”

“I hope to become a singer who works on an album that we can keep in the future. Above all, I want to be a singer who stays with the fans for a long time with her songs..“
YUJU’s solo album “REC” is released at 6 p.m. today.
