Singer HENRY once again explained the “pro-Chinese controversy”.

On March 21, his agency Monster Entertainment apologized for the misunderstanding and rumors surrounding HENRY.
Last year, HENRY was embroiled in a “pro-Chinese controversy” over the phrase “I love you China” while visiting Chengdu, China. He also uploaded a video of himself performing the song “I love you China” on his Weibo account.
HENRY, who had no explanation for the controversy, was recently appointed ambassador for the prevention of school violence at the Mapo police station in Seoul. Netizens have expressed their antipathy to HENRY’s public interest decision to scale back his activities in Korea and focus on Chinese entertainment programs, calling it an inappropriate event.

In response, HENRY confessed his feelings of injustice on his Instagram account on March 19. HENRY said:
“먼저 제가 잘못한 거 있다면 최송하고 잘못 한 행동이나 말… 다 최송합니다 (First of all if i did something wrong i would like to apologize and if i said something wrong…i apologize for everything)“,
he said in Korean, with unfortunate turns. He explained that it was a misunderstanding caused by birth, saying, “It’s not because of my actions or my words, but because of my blood.“
HENRY first spoke out after the ‘pro-China controversy’ broke out, but it again caused controversy. It is that the statement displayed as it is, without using a translator or a spell checker, is not sincere. He also talked about reason invoking racism with the word “my blood”.
In response, the agency said, “We apologize for causing confusion with inaccurate labeling and unrefined expressions. We were so frustrated that we wanted to resolve the misunderstanding first.“
Born to a Hong Kong father and a Taiwanese mother, HENRY spent his childhood in Canada. In 2006, he auditioned for SM Entertainment and came to South Korea. The agency said, “He’s been focused on music all my life. Because of that, there are a lot of unknown and insufficient areas.“
Recently, controversy has spread in the online community that HENRY is managing comments on his YouTube channel. Comments that disparage China and defend Korea were immediately deleted. On the other hand, the comments advocating China remained the same.
The agency said, “The suspicion of handling some comments on YouTube is a very malicious distortion,” adding, “Because there is a lot of content watched by young people, creating a healthy atmosphere has been considered the top priority. Therefore, regardless of where they were found, harmful content, malicious comments, slander and all unhealthy comments were inevitably deleted and filtered by subscriber reports. Rumors that circulated after I intentionally captured them are not true at all.“
HENRY debuted as a member of SUPER JUNIOR M in 2008. He retired due to his contract expiring in 2018 and is active in various fields.
