JBJ95 won the lawsuit for the invalidation of the exclusive contract with its agency Star Road Entertainment, but was ordered to pay damages.

On October 21, Seoul Western District Court’s 12th Civil Affairs Department held a trial to confirm the existence of an exclusive contract filed by JBJ95 against Star Road and a claim for damages filed by Star Road against JBJ95.
The court ruled that the exclusive contract between JBJ95 and Star Road had lost its effect and ruled in favor of the duo in a lawsuit to confirm the existence of the exclusive contract.
On the other hand, in the action for damages brought by Star Road against JBJ95, JBJ95 is responsible for the breach of the exclusive contract, and KIM SANG GYUN shall pay Star Road 220 million won (160,000 euros). and KENTA 665 million won (480,000 euros) in damages.
Based on this, the court relied on the fact that Star Road signed a performance contract in March last year and tried to hold a concert remotely in April, but JBJ95 refused to do so. Moreover, despite the deterioration of the company’s situation, he hired an external manager for the activities of JBJ95, and when he refused, the head of the branch and the head of the department would have offered to accompany them according to the schedules.
In April last year, JBJ95 filed a lawsuit, claiming that its agency failed to fulfill its obligation to support and settle entertainment business. JBJ95 requested the termination of the contract, claiming that the company’s financial situation was not good. Star Road countered that it was true that the company’s situation was not good due to COVID-19, but instead provided management and tuition for JBJ95 members.
JBJ95 is a male idol duo consisting of KIM SANG GYUN and KENTA from Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2.” The members also worked in the JBJ project group, created after the show ended.
