BLACKPINK: The fire of millions for two titles

BLACKPINK’s second album pre-release track and title track hit a record 100 million views side-by-side.

According to YG Entertainment on October 26, the music video for BLACKPINK’s second full album pre-release track “Pink venom” surpassed 400 million views on YouTube as of 9:37 p.m. KST the day before. It’s been around 68 days since its release on August 19, becoming the second fastest track after the previous record for “How you like that“.

Previously, the music video for “Pink venom” racked up 90.4 million views on YouTube within 24 hours. It was followed by 100 million views after 29 hours and 35 minutes, the fastest among K-pop girl groups, and 200 million views in seven and a half days.

Additionally, the title track “Shut down” from the second full album surpassed 200 million views at 12:34 a.m. that day, about 41 days after its release. It proves that the pre-released song and the title track of the second full album are loved by fans all over the world. As both music videos continue to rise steadily, they are expected to break new records in the future.

BLACKPINK topped the official Billboard 200 album charts in the US and UK with its second full-length album “BORN PINK”, which includes “Pink venom” and “Shut down”, earning the title of “the first artist Asian female to dominate the two biggest charts in the world at the same time.” The group was also the first K-pop artist to top the weekly Spotify Top Song chart.

Additionally, starting with BLACKPINK’s performance in Seoul on October 15 and 16, it is leading the world’s largest K-pop girl group tour that attracts 1.5 million viewers worldwide. This year, it will hold 14 concerts in seven cities in North America and 10 concerts in seven cities in Europe, and will travel to Asia and Oceania starting in 2023.
