KRIS WU: Will his return to Canada require his chemical castration?

KRIS WU (31, Chinese name Wu Yi Pan), a former member of the group EXO, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison for sexual violence in China, could be subjected to chemical castration in his country of origin, the Canada.

According to local reports in China, the People’s Court in Chaoyang-gu, Beijing, China sentenced KRIS WU to 13 years in prison on the 25th of last month, including 11 years and 6 months in prison for rape and 1 year and 10 months for mass pornography. He also issued an overseas deportation order after serving his sentence.

KRIS WU is a Chinese-Canadian, and if the first trial is upheld, he will be deported to Canada after serving 13 years in a Chinese prison. Currently, Canada is a country that imposes chemical castration on sex offenders. As a result, some say KRIS may be subject to chemical castration after returning to Canada.

Chemical castration lowers levels of testosterone, the source of sex drive, by injecting hormonal drugs, and is a safety measure to prevent recurrence.

Previously, KRIS WU was arrested in July last year for sexually assaulting three drunken women at his home between November and December 2020. He was later charged and tried in June for mass rape and pornography.

KRIS WU debuted as a member of EXO in 2012, but left EXO in 2014 after filing a lawsuit confirming the lack of an exclusive contract. Since then, he has continued his career in the entertainment industry in China.
