VIXX rapper RAVI has admitted charges of evading military service. Although he has avoided arrest, attention turns to his intention to join the army.
According to the legal community, on March 7, Kim Ji Sook, a senior warrant judge at the Seoul Southern District Court, conducted an interrogation prior to the arrest of RAVI, who was suspected of violating the service law military, the day before.
Kim Ji Sook rejected the warrant, saying, “It is difficult to say that there is a risk of escape and destruction of evidence for the suspects who admit the charges in light of the objective evidence collected.“
Earlier on March 2, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigation Team requested an arrest warrant for RAVI. As the warrant has been rejected, the investigation will continue without detention.
Recently, celebrities, athletes and others have requested a re-examination, citing a false diagnosis of epilepsy. As a result, the situation of avoiding military service was revealed, such as lowering the physical grade and being judged class four, causing a social stir.
As a group of brokers suspected of escaping military service have been arrested, RAVI’s military service evasion situation has also come to light. RAVI was accused of violating the law on military service, promising to investigate sincerely.
As RAVI admitted the charges of evading military service, the possibility of being sentenced to prison also increased. At the same time, under Article 136 of the Military Service Law, if an act of evasion is revealed, it must be reviewed regardless of the period of service already completed, in order to start it again.
In October last year, RAVI, who replaced his active military service with that of social worker, admitted the charges of evading military service. Attention is focused on whether RAVI will join the army.
Amid ongoing investigations into charges of evading military service, attention is focused on the results of this one to be announced later this month.
