The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation announced on the 16th that the medal commemorating the 10th anniversary of BTS’s debut last year broke the highest record in commemorative medal sales history.

As a result, the company plans to release a second commemorative medal this year with a new design.
The 10th anniversary medal of BTS’s debut sold over 10,000 copies and 6 billion won (+4 million US dollars), the highest performance among commemorative medals issued by the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation. (The medal cost just over 3000 euros for 1 oz (just over 30 grams of gold))

In particular, the one-ounce gold medal product was the first to sell out within two hours of opening on global fandom platform Weverse Shop due to the scarcity of only 1,000 copies worldwide.
The BTS Commemorative Medal has been produced not only in terms of sales records, but also in terms of technology for medals, stamps and coins.
For the first time in Korea, a BTS symbol was engraved by applying a fine pattern used in banking, and a mintmark used only for monumental coins by foreign mints was applied for the first time in Korea.
The mint mark, reflected in the BTS medal, was designed with the star-shaped numeral “10”, symbolizing one.

In addition, a hidden element was applied for the first time in a commemorative medal. Because the hidden items are difficult to identify with the naked eye, the magnifying glass is also included in the commemorative medal product.
It is announced that it has been added the fun of finding 10 special hidden items engraved on the commemorative medal.
The second commemorative medal, which is scheduled to be released this year, is undergoing last-minute design work as part of the plan to implement the portrait of all BTS members with the best artistry and the first new technology in the world.
The second commemorative medal plans to express the meaning and value of the 10th anniversary of BTS’s debut with differentiated design personnel and cutting-edge new technologies, said Ban Dae Sik, chairman of Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation.
