KISS OF LIFE
S2 ENTERTAINMENT girl group KISS OF LIFE (also known as KIOF) is holding a showcase in Seoul on Wednesday, November 8th to present its new mini-album; “BORN TO BE XX“.
Composed of members JULIE, NATTY, BELLE and HANEUL, the group offers an opus containing seven songs, including two main titles. The first, “Bad news“, is part of the rock and hip-hop genre, and is intended to be very dynamic, while the second, “Nobody knows“, is described as a song from the 70s thanks to its punk and psychedelic sounds, underlined by notes of Philadelphia soul. Concerning the “XX” present in the title of the album, it represents a person who only sees and hears what they want, and is therefore by extension, synonymous with freedom.
The showcase begins with a video introducing the four girls, before they go on stage to introduce themselves and pose for the journalists present in the room. It has only been a few months since their debut in July, but the singers show professionalism, the stress not seeming to overwhelm them. NATTY, known for her notable appearance on the show Sixteen which created the group TWICE, says with a smile that the group has been preparing hard for this comeback, and that he really likes the songs on this mini-album.
Immediately, a trailer for the album is broadcast, just before KISS OF LIFE performs “Bad news” for the first time. The video is also broadcast, but there is no respite for the group, since they immediately continue with “Nobody knows“, after changing outfits. It is then time to discuss in more detail with the singers, who take their seats on stage. They once again share their hard work, and their desire to find a large audience for their music. They are very proud of this mini-album, and NATTY and JULIE take the opportunity to dance a few steps representing key passages in the choreography, especially during the last rap.

The album is even more meaningful because they included songs dedicated to their fans, and JULIE, who was born in Hawaii, translated “Bad news” into English for overseas listeners. Their goal is to be able to do an “encore” on stage, meaning they can win a music show. NATTY also recalls a memorable scene during the filming of the MV; a scene filmed near the Han River. She was impressed to be able to film in such a big and beautiful place, surrounded by many extras and dancers, like a big star.
The young women once again talk about freedom being at the center of this album, which is reflected in the songs, the dance and the music video. The group has a desire to free themselves from the constraints of society, and to make it the story of KISS OF LIFE. They received advice and encouragement from their loved ones, with BELLE speaking particularly about her father and his daily messages. Her father is indeed very involved in the process of the group, being the daughter of the singer SHIM SIN. She also confides that the movements and shapes of guns made with their hands are a trademark of her father.
It was also important for the group to make an album with hip hop R&B sounds, as many of their friends appreciate this style. This is how the showcase ends, with the members warmly thanking the reporters and anyone who has given their support for this new promotional period that is beginning.
