IPQ, the agency of boy group OMEGA X, announced the progress of a legal action against the YouTube channel “인지웅K-pop idol trainer“, which raised suspicions of “tempering” (Extortion of artists by illegal prior contact).
IPQ said on December 20: “In response to the request for an injunction to remove and prohibit the posting of videos on the 인지웅K-pop idol trainer channel, the court ruled that a false expression was used in a number of videos posted on the channel and that this could not be allowed because it violates OMEGA X’s personal rights. »
IPQ then explained: “The court ordered the removal of the above content, and if it is not removed, it decided to impose a mandatory performance fee for the number of days of violation” It stressed: “It is very important that the basis of the ‘tempering’ claimed by the YouTube channel has been proven false.“
OMEGA X is a group that debuted in June 2021. From the end of last year to the beginning of this year, they were unable to fully engage in their activities for a while due to litigation with their former agency, Spire Entertainment. At the time, members claimed they were victims of sexual harassment, verbal abuse and assault by the agency’s CEO.
Since then, OMEGA X decided to end the dispute and terminate the exclusivity contract by mutual agreement with Spire Entertainment when it built a new nest at its current agency, IPQ, in July this year.
Among this, a video was posted on the YouTube channel 인지웅K-pop idol trainer saying that there was an attempt to “temper” with OMEGA X during his transfer to the agency, and IPQ denied these allegations and filed a lawsuit. Since then, IPQ has filed an injunction against similar videos posted on the “인지웅K-pop idol trainer” channel and also filed a criminal complaint for defamation and commercial obstruction due to the spread of false information.
IPQ, which issued an additional statement on the same day, said: “It is a serious violation of the honor rights of our artists to reject the contract with IPQ as a moderation after winning a lawsuit seeking to suspend the validity of the exclusive contract with Spire Entertainment. in January this year.” The agency added: “As a follow-up to this issue, we plan to take legal action to remove the entire video which is most likely defamatory, and we will do our best to protect and facilitate activities of OMEGA X“.
