RAIN, KIM TAE HAE
A Seoul court today sentenced a stalker of the famous couple RAIN and actress KIM TAE HEE to six months in prison and 40 hours of treatment for harassment.
The stalker, a 49-year-old woman, has repeatedly visited the couple’s home in Itaewon, Yongsan District, since March 2021, ringing the doorbell.
The woman was charged with minor penalties three times, including a fine of less than 100,000 won ($76), from March 2021 to October of the same year, before the punishment for stalking became more severe.
She was arrested in flagrante delicto at the couple’s home by the police in February 2022. The police sent her case to the public prosecutor’s office in September of the same year.
“We recognized that this was her first offense and she did not intend to cause harm. However, the criminal act of constant harassment against the couple cannot be taken lightly” the court said.
The court imposed a prison sentence considering the likelihood that the woman would repeat the same crime, highlighting “the difficulty of providing appropriate treatment to the accused.”
