B.I.G
Following the departure of BENJI and MINPYO from B.I.G (Boys In Groove) a few years ago, it’s turn for the other band members to not renew their contracts and go their own way.

After 9 years of activity, should the fans, known as Biginnings, say goodbye to B.I.G? That’s what the members’ activities over the last few months suggest.
In October, HEEDO announced the termination and non-renewal of his contract in an Instagram post. J-HOON and JINSEOK published the same announcement later in December 2023. With three members leaving, only GUNMIN remains within B.I.G and its agency GH entertainment. GUNMIN‘s status with his agency is still uncertain, as he is currently doing his military service.

B.I.G became a hit on their debut in 2014 with the song “Hello“, whose lyrics and catchy rhythm introduced foreign K-pop fans to Korean culture. Riding the K-pop wave, they released several mini-albums, toured the world and achieved real success in Middle Eastern countries after their Arabic cover of “3 Daqat” (15 million views).
With covid, the end of BENJI and MINPYO‘s contract, compulsory military service etc., the group’s activities became smaller and rarer – their last released single album dating from 2021.
But if in 2024 the future of B.I.G as a group is uncertain, the members have started new careers of their own – some still at the forefront of the scene:
After the end of his contract in 2020, BENJI turned to music composition in the US and is the composer behind several well-known K-pop tracks such as “Lemonade” by NCT 127 or more recently “Ru-Pum-Pum” by the group 8TURN.
MINPYO passionate about art and drawing pursues a career as a digital creator on Youtube, where he unveils his artwork.
With a successful solo fan meeting in December and several covers on his Youtube channel, HEEDO remains in the spotlight as a solo artist (with no known agency).
J-HOON and JINSEOK have joined JOYJUN (known as GUN from the disbanded group I-REX) in the pre-debut group NEW.B. The group performed on stage this Friday, January 12 in Osaka.
While GUNMIN is doing his military service, he is also a dance teacher for the EZ Dance academy in Seoul, and often publishes his choreography on Instagram.
Without any of the members really disappearing from the Hallyu world, B.I.G fans are delighted and are wishing them nothing but happiness for their new debuts.
