TWS
The group TWS established themselves as a “global trend,” receiving love calls from local shows and festivals even before its official debut in Japan.

TWS (Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon and Kyungmin) will be invited to Japan’s largest fashion festival, the 38th Mainabi Tokyo Girls Collection 2024 S/S (hereinafter referred to as “Tokyo Girls Collection”) today and will be on stage as the main artist. The “Tokyo Girls Collection” is a grand event with special performances from influential artists from around the world, and TWS will hold its first stage in Japan as part of this festival.
They will also appear on Japanese public broadcaster NHK’s popular music show Venue 101. In particular, the TWS appearance episode will be broadcast in enlarged versions. The show will feature a total of four groups, including TWS, popular Japanese group THE RAMPAGE, Number_i and K-pop group ATEEZ, attracting strong local attention.
Japan’s interest in TWS was extraordinary even before its debut. As it is the “younger brother” group of Seventeen, a boy group that Pledis Entertainment released nine years ago, fans around the world paid close attention to TWS because it was mysterious. Major Japanese media have also long expressed keen interest in TWS.

Before its debut, the company designed the covers of the March and April editions of Ray and ViVi, two of Japan’s leading magazines. Ray and ViVi have been active enough to send journalists to Korea to meet with TWS. Notably, both magazines published special editions of the issue covered by TWS. The covers of the special editions are mostly decorated by local stars.
Fuji TV, Japan’s largest private channel, also sent a number of journalists to Korea to film the debut of TWS. Fuji TV will produce the first TWS showcase in the form of an exclusive documentary titled “TWS DOCUMENT 2024.01.22” and broadcast it on its TWO channel at 9 p.m. KST on March 8. This is the first time with TWS that the debut of a K-pop group in Korea has been covered in documentary form. It is also very unusual for the broadcaster to name a group of rookies under the show’s title.
TWS ranked No. 1 in Oricon’s “Daily Album Rankings” in Japan (February 5) and No. 3 in the “Weekly Album Rankings” (February 5) with their debut mini album “SPARKLING BLUE“. The title song “첫 만남은 계획대로 되지 않아” also topped Rakuten Music’s “Weekly Rankings” in Japan (January 24-30).
TWS’s current performance in Japan is an unusual move that cannot be easily compared to existing K-pop artists. This is because most K-pop artists release Japanese albums in the country and usually establish their position after their official debut. TWS, quickly establishing itself as the “Best Rookie 2024“, is expanding its influence in Japan as well as its popularity in Korea, thereby raising expectations for its “global trend” performance.
