XDINARY HEROES
The country’s only local magazine for confident singles, “Singles,” released photos of XDINARY HEROES, who returned with its fifth mini album “LIVE and FALL” after six months. XDINARY HEROES in the photos showed a different charm by creating an atmosphere that was both free and light.
XDINARY HEROES is a JYP Entertainment boy band that consists of GUNIL (drums), JEONGSU (keyboard), GAON (rhythm guitar), O.DE (synthesizer), JUN HAN (lead guitar), and JOOYEON (bass).
We asked XDINARY HEROES what the story of this album is about. “It’s been a long time since we’ve released a full-length album. All the albums we’ve released so far have been named in computer terms, and this is the first time they won’t be. That’s because it’s a story that comes after the last album, ‘TROUBLESHOOTING.’ If the last album was about events and conflicts that happen in the online world, ‘LIVE and FALL’ is about what will happen in the world we’ll face in the real world,” GUNIL said, raising expectations for the new album.
How does music resemble XDINARY HEROES? JEONGSU said, “Sometimes I can’t express my feelings properly because I’m shy, and that’s where music helps me a lot. I talk about what I want to say or what I feel through music. For me, music is ‘liberation’ itself,” and JOOHYEON said, “I want to convey ‘pleasure that never cools down.’ I’ve been able to do that until now because I’ve been following the pleasure, and I feel another pleasure when I go through the process of working on my own music and our own music.”
GAON said, “I am a person who gives pain and joy. There have been many times when I have had a hard time because of music and wanted to quit, but I felt more emotional by laughing and crying through music. It’s a love-hate relationship,” expressing his unwavering passion for music.
As an artist, we asked them if there was an artist they yearned for or wanted to meet. O.DE said, “It’s hard to choose one person, but it would be IU. I feel like her music itself brings comfort to many people beyond joy and emotion.” JUN AHN said: “I respect John Prusiante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Slash of Guns & Rosies. I saw Slash play guitar live one day, and I felt like I fell in love with the musician rather than the technique, as if I was being pulled by some strange force into the second half of the performance.“
Finally, XDINARY HEROES asked them what they thought they were. JEONGSU said,
“They are beings that make me grow and evolve. If I were a solo musician, I would have made music that I was satisfied with, but I was able to take on various musical challenges by meeting the members.”
O.DE drew sympathy from the members, saying, “I think I’m a person who tends to be lazy, but I think I come to my senses every time I do this because I have the other members.”
