Singer WHEESUNG (43, real name Choi Hwi Seong) has passed away. With his concert scheduled to take place in five days, the music industry was deeply saddened by his sudden death.

WHEESUNG was found collapsed in an apartment building in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul at 6:29 p.m. KST on March 10.
“We are sorry to report such heartbreaking and distressing news. The deceased was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and has been pronounced dead,” his agency Tajo Entertainment said.
WHEESUNG, who arrived from China yesterday, reportedly called 119 after his mother, contacted by an agency he could not reach, went to his home and found him lying there. The deceased and his mother lived in the same apartment.
Police are investigating whether a suicide note was written and the details of the death. “The bereaved family members, fellow artists, and Tajo Entertainment employees are all mourning the deceased due to the sudden sad news,” the agency said.
After debuting with “Can’t we” in 2002, WHEESUNG released hit songs such as “The day we met again,” “Incurable disease,” and “Even thought of marriage.” In 2020, he was tried for habitually administering propofol (violating the Narcotics Control Act) and was given a suspended prison sentence the following year. The case made it difficult for the deceased to perform on television, such as being suspended from KBS. He held a fan meeting for his birthday last month and planned to hold a ballad concert with fellow singer KCM at Daegu Exco Auditorium on the 15th.
We send our condolences to WHEESUNG’s loved ones.
