AHN HYO SEOP
Actor AHN HYO SEOP revealed that the reason he was cast in the film “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint” was his normality, drawing public attention.

On the morning of July 16, AHN HYO SEOP sat down for an interview with News1 at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, to discuss the film “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint” (directed by Kim Byung Woo). Speaking about portraying a character with an ordinary feel, he said:
“I’ve now been in this industry for ten years, and since I’m in a profession where you constantly have to stand out, I haven’t really had the chance to blend into a group or live while staying ‘invisible.’ Because of that, it wasn’t easy at first to immerse myself in the character of the reader.”
He continued:
“I remember my first meeting with Director Kim Byung Woo. I asked him, ‘Why did you cast me?’ and he said, ‘Because you’re extremely ordinary.’ That really helped me. Everyone has a different perspective, some people might see me one way, others another, and everyone’s view can be different.”

What did he do visually to portray the ordinary character of Kim Dokja? AHN HYO SEOP explained:
“Not caring about my appearance was my way of showing that I cared. I barely looked in the mirror. The costume and makeup teams handled everything. We agreed on the concept together at first, but once filming began, I completely forgot what I looked like.”
He added with a laugh:
“That was the best effort I could make. And I darkened my foundation a little.”
“Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint” is a fantasy action film in which the world of a novel, serialized for over ten years and completed recently, becomes reality on the day of its final chapter. Kim Dokja (played by AHN HYO SEOP), the novel’s sole reader, must fight to survive in this ruined world alongside the novel’s protagonist, Yoo Joong Hyuk (played by Lee Min Ho), and their companions.
“Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint” will be released in theaters on July 23.
