KIM GEON WOO
From the very first day of broadcast, a heated controversy has surrounded the character of KIM GEON WOO, a contestant on Mnet’s audition program “Boys 2 Planet”. Aware of the gravity of the situation, the production team has launched an investigation to verify the facts.

On July 17, the “Boys 2 Planet” production team issued an official statement, saying:
“We are currently verifying the authenticity of the claims that have been circulated on social media. We are working to establish the facts not only through the individual mentioned in the post, but also via former staff and associates who were with B Entertainment at the time. We are also carefully reviewing any potential legal implications.“
Earlier, a post on an online community had revealed accusations regarding KIM GEON WOO’s past behavior. The author claimed that during his time as a trainee, KIM GEON WOO received favoritism from top executives at the agency, earning him the nickname “the king of B Entertainment,” and that he displayed disrespectful behavior toward some staff members and fellow trainees.
The revelations included claims that he had used abusive language such as: “Who do you think you are, you f***ing bastard?” and “You’re worthless, you’ll be kicked out soon.” There were also allegations that he misused company funds to drink alcohol while skipping dance classes, or to travel to Japan. To support the credibility of these claims, the author shared psychiatric treatment records and contractual documents.
Subsequently, two additional individuals came forward with similar accusations, presenting copies of their agency contracts, further intensifying the controversy.
As the situation gained traction, many viewers responded, saying: “If it turns out to be true, he must step down,” and “The broadcasting company must conduct a thorough investigation.” Others took a more cautious stance, saying the official findings should be awaited before drawing conclusions.
KIM GEON WOO had been selected as the “center” (the main featured contestant) for the signal song of “Boys 2 Planet K,” drawing attention even before the show’s premiere. In the previous season, contestant Hanbin, who had held the same position, debuted as the leader of the group ZEROBASEONE. KIM GEON WOO was therefore seen as a strong contender, but this controversy is expected to deal a serious blow to his image.
For context, “Boys 2 Planet” is Mnet’s global boy group project and the successor to the previous season’s Boys Planet. The show is being broadcast in two versions, a Korean version (K Planet) and a Chinese version (C Planet), with the goal of appealing to an international audience.
