YANG HYUN SUK
As YANG HYUN SUK, executive producer of YG Entertainment, has received a suspended sentence for charges of “coercing a meeting” with a whistleblower in connection with a drug case involving rapper B.I, he has expressed his position.

On the morning of July 18, YANG HYUN SUK stated through his agency, YG Entertainment:
“Although I feel disappointed by the Supreme Court’s decision, I accept it with humility.”
He continued:
“The initial charge of ‘retaliatory threats’ resulted in not guilty verdicts in both the first and second trials. However, during the appeals process, the prosecution altered the charge to the lesser-known ‘coercion to meet,’ and after five years and eight months of lengthy legal proceedings, I have now received the Supreme Court’s final ruling.”
He added:
“From now on, I will approach my responsibilities with greater caution and a stronger sense of accountability.”
That same day, the Supreme Court’s First Division (presiding justice: Ma Yong Ju) upheld the lower court’s ruling, sentencing YANG HYUN SUK, executive producer of YG Entertainment, to six months in prison, suspended for one year, on charges of coercing a meeting under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Previously, in August 2016, YANG HYUN SUK had been prosecuted for attempting to derail a police investigation by persuading and threatening Han Seo-hee, a former trainee arrested for drug use, after she testified about singer B.I (former member of iKON, real name Kim Hanbin) purchasing illegal drugs.
