Singer CHOI YENA (YENA) has teamed up with the creator of the beloved Japanese anime “Full Moon o Sagashite“ (Korean title: 달빛천사, lit. “Moonlight Angel”) for the cover art of her new album.
According to her agency, the online cover image for CHOI YENA’s 4th mini-album “BLOOMING WINGS,” set to be released on July 29, was created in collaboration with Arina Tanemura, the renowned mangaka behind “Full Moon o Sagashite”.
Arina Tanemura is a leading figure in the world of shōjo manga (romantic comics aimed at teen girls), known for her emotionally rich stories and delicate, ornate art style. Her most famous works include “Full Moon o Sagashite”, “Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne”, “The Gentlemen’s Alliance Cross” (Shinshi Doumei Cross), and “I.O.N”. In particular, “Full Moon o Sagashite” left a deep impression when it first aired in Korea in 2004, thanks to its heartfelt storyline and memorable soundtrack, earning its place as a nostalgic favorite still remembered today.
Tanemura illustrated the digital cover of “BLOOMING WINGS,” depicting a winged girl praying earnestly against a dreamlike sky. The artwork radiates a romantic and magical atmosphere, complete with pink clouds, floating feathers, and delicately drawn ribbons and frills, all signature elements of Tanemura’s emotional and whimsical visual style.
“BLOOMING WINGS” is an album filled with themes of love and personal growth, expressed through CHOI YENA’s unique sensitivity. It tells personal stories such as the innocent feelings of first love, likened to angel wings, and the sorrow of a first heartbreak, experienced in a quiet alley under sudden rain. Each moment is reinterpreted through YENA’s heartfelt musical lens.
Through this artistic collaboration, Arina Tanemura beautifully captured YENA’s emotional world, heightening fans’ anticipation for the album.
Meanwhile, CHOI YENA was recently selected as the face of a major advertising campaign, drawing further public attention. Active in various fields including music, variety shows, and now drama, she is establishing herself as a true Gen Z icon.
