Singer SEONGRI has been confirmed as a new cast member for the second season of the original musical “Trot Train – Station Piccadilly” (트롯열차-피카디리역, hereafter “Trot Train”).
“Trot Train” is an intergenerational musical that shares the joys and sorrows of life through the traditional Korean music genre trot. Featuring popular artists such as Kim Soo Chan, Kim Joong Yeon, My Jin, Yang Ji Eun, and Hong Ja, the show has drawn audiences of all ages by combining retro nostalgia with the unique appeal of K-trot.
Season 2 will bring back the entire original cast while introducing new performers like SEONGRI, promising a fresh dynamic and strong chemistry aimed at bridging generations.
Originally a member of the boy group RAINZ, SEONGRI has steadily expanded his artistic range, transitioning from solo ballads to trot, and establishing himself as a multi-talented entertainer. He gained public attention through appearances on MBN’s “Voice Trot”, “Trot Fighter”, TV Chosun’s “Mr. Trot 2”, and SBS Life’s “Pongsa Activities”, where his solid vocal foundation and emotional performances stood out.
Even while serving in the military, SEONGRI appeared on MBN’s “Active-duty King 2”, showcasing his charisma as a next-generation trot performer. With idol-like visuals and deep emotional sensitivity, he has captivated audiences with his boundless musical style.
SEONGRI shared his thoughts:
“I’ve had the opportunity to explore various music styles and stages so far. Taking on the challenge of a new genre like musical theater allows me to broaden my horizons even more. I feel both nervous about how fans will receive this new side of me and excited about this journey. I’m preparing diligently to deliver a heartfelt performance through both singing and acting. Season 2 of “Trot Train” will begin performances on August 6 at CGV Piccadilly Hall 1958 in Jongno, Seoul.
