ASHLEY, a member of the group LADIES’ CODE, opened up about the reason she traveled to New York after leaving Korea.

Recently, a video titled “(다시)혼자 사는 것 ((Living Alone) Again)” was uploaded to Ashley’s YouTube channel, ashleybchoi.
In the video, ASHLEY says, “It’s been almost two weeks since I moved. I’ve been busy right after moving, so there are still a lot of clothes I haven’t had time to put away,” before hesitating for a moment. Then, she continues, “I’ll just say it. I broke up with my boyfriend after six years together, and I left our home. That’s why I went to New York, because it was just too hard for me to stay in Korea.” It’s known that she had been living with her boyfriend with marriage in mind.
She goes on to talk about the breakup: “Everything was really difficult. I came back to Korea and stayed with a friend. I don’t know what I would’ve done if she hadn’t been there.” Through tears, she adds, “I felt ashamed and heartbroken that a six-year relationship had ended. Two months have passed, but I’m still in the process of rebuilding.”
She concludes, “I believe there was a reason this had to happen at that time. Just because a relationship ends doesn’t mean I failed. I gave it everything I had, so I have no regrets. I’ve found peace within myself. I’m enjoying creating a space that’s my own.”
For reference, ASHLEY debuted in March 2013 as a member of the girl group LADIES’ CODE. She later pursued a solo career and now runs a YouTube channel with 280,000 subscribers.
