LEE SEUNG GI
On the show “Live Wire” (라이브 와이어), singer LEE SEUNG GI opened up about his musical journey with heartfelt honesty.

In the 7th episode of Mnet’s musical talk show “Live Wire,” airing on August 1, LEE SEUNG GI reunites with Jun In Kwon from the legendary band Deulgukhwa (들국화), about eight years after their first meeting on an entertainment show in 2017, for a special moment.
During the episode, LEE SEUNG GI shared:
“Professor Jun In Kwon may come off as intimidating, but in reality, he’s warm-hearted and a little clumsy.”
He then encouraged the audience by saying:
“I hope you can all relax and have a great time.”
His comment came after both MCs, Jung Jae Hyung and Code Kunst, as well as the audience, were visibly nervous when Jun In Kwon appeared.
LEE SEUNG GI joked:
“Watching the monitor, it felt like a general had just walked into the barracks!”, prompting laughter in the studio.
He also explained that he’s been appearing less frequently on variety shows lately to focus more on his music:
“These days, I’ve been doing some soul-searching. When I ask myself what truly excites me and brings me joy, the answer is still music and singing. I wasn’t born a singer, so I take vocal lessons and train regularly.”

Celebrating his 20th career anniversary this year, LEE SEUNG GI also expressed his aspiration to leave a lasting mark with a timeless hit:
“My goal is to create a mega-hit that 90% of people recognize within the first three seconds of the intro—within the next five years. If I could release a song that everyone knows, that would be absolute happiness.”
Following that, Jung Jae Hyung asked Jun In Kwon, who already has several iconic songs like “That’s my world (그것만이 내 세상)” and “Don’t worry, dear (걱정말아요 그대)”, to share some spontaneous advice. Jun In Kwon’s unexpected response reportedly triggered a burst of laughter throughout the studio.
As curiosity grows around that now-famous reply, the show teases a cross-generational duet performance between LEE SEUNG GI and Jun In Kwon, drawing all eyes. Viewers are eager to see what kind of musical harmony these two artists from different genres will create together.
Episode 7 of Live Wire airs August 1 at 7 PM KST on Mnet and tvN.
