BTS has received a new Double Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).

According to the RIAJ, on August 28, the lead single “DNA” from the album “LOVE YOURSELF 承 ‘Her’”, released in September 2017, surpassed 200 million cumulative streams in July, earning it a Double Platinum certification in the streaming category. With this achievement, BTS now has six songs certified Double Platinum, following “Dynamite,” “Permission to dance,” “Butter,” “Boy with luv (Feat. Halsey),” and “Stay gold.”
The RIAJ awards certifications monthly based on total streams: Gold for 50 million or more, Platinum for 100 million or more, and Diamond for 500 million or more.
“DNA” conveys the message that “we were bound by destiny from the beginning and were one from our DNA,” and is characterized by an electro-pop sound blended with acoustic guitar. The track expresses youthful, bold love in a fresh and cheerful way.
With “DNA,” BTS made its first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, the main U.S. singles chart. The album “LOVE YOURSELF 承 ‘Her’” also charted on the Billboard 200, the main U.S. albums chart, making BTS the first Korean act to simultaneously appear on both major Billboard charts, the Hot 100 and the Billboard 200.
BTS is currently working on a new album scheduled for release next spring and has announced a major world tour, preparing for a spectacular comeback as a 21st-century pop icon.
