Singer PSY has been reported to police for allegedly receiving psychotropic medications without an in-person consultation.

According to authorities, on August 27, the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul opened an investigation after PSY and Professor “A” from the university hospital who prescribed the medications were reported for violating medical law.
PSY is accused of recently obtaining psychotropics at a general hospital in Seoul without a face-to-face consultation. Investigators are also checking whether his manager collected the medications on his behalf.
Professor “A” reportedly denied the claims, stating that the consultation was not in person.
In principle, psychotropic drugs require a face-to-face medical consultation and must be collected by the patient. Only very limited exceptions allow a family member or caregiver to pick them up. During the COVID-19 pandemic, from February 2020, phone prescriptions and third-party collection were temporarily allowed, but since November 2021, only in-person prescriptions are permitted.
Regarding this, PSY’s agency, P NATION, stated on August 28:
“The fact that sleep medication, a specialized drug, was collected by a third party was clearly a mistake and a lapse. PSY has been diagnosed with chronic sleep disorders and takes the medication according to medical prescriptions. The dosage has always followed medical guidance, and there has never been a prescription by a third party.”
The agency denied any third-party prescription and added: “There were cases where sleep medication was collected by someone else, and the police are currently investigating this.”
Meanwhile, PSY held his nationwide solo tour “PSY Summer Swag 2025” from June through August 23–24.
