THE8, member of the group SEVENTEEN, will make a surprise appearance on the Mnet show “Boys 2 Planet.”
According to Pledis Entertainment, the group’s label under HYBE Music Group, THE8 will appear on the September 4 broadcast of “BOYS II PLANET” at 9:20 PM KST as the fourth “Planet Master.” During filming, he reportedly offered kind advice and encouragement to the contestants right before the third mission: the “Debut Concept Battle.”
“Boys 2 Planet” regularly invites senior artists to act as Planet Masters, serving as inspiring role models for the contestants who are still developing their skills. THE8 has shown the full range of his musical talents both through his group activities with SEVENTEEN and solo projects like “Skyfall (THE8 Solo).” Last year, he released his very first Chinese EP album “STARDUST,” for which he wrote all the tracks, solidifying his status as a singer-songwriter.
This year, THE8 also appeared as a producer on “CHUANG ASIA – Season 2” (produced by Tencent Video) and served as an official judge on the music show “Let Me Sing!,” highlighting his standing as an experienced artist.
His new song “Star crossing night (feat. GALI),” released last month, has also been very well received. Upon release, the track topped multiple charts on China’s largest music platform QQ Music, including trending charts, and led three Tencent Music charts (Uni Music Chart, Soaring Chart, and Trend Chart). The song also ranked on the global iTunes “Worldwide Songs” chart.
THE8 will headline the major music festival YJ (Yue Jian Chao Xiang) taking place on September 21 in Beijing, China. This will mark his first solo festival performance. The two-day event starting September 20 is expected to draw around 60,000 attendees.
