The Popular Culture Exchange Commission officially launched with 26 civilian members.

The Commission confirmed the appointment of its 26 civilian members and was formally inaugurated on October 1.
Centered around PARK JIN YOUNG, producer and CEO of JYP ENTERTAINMENT, and Choi Hwi Young, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, both appointed as co-chairs on September 9, the commission completed its formation and began activities.
The organization is structured into seven subcommittees: popular music, video games, webtoons and animation, film and broadcasting, lifestyle, investment, and policy. Each includes CEOs of major companies representing the field.
Notably, the subcommittee dedicated to popular music brings together, for the first time, the heads of the four major K-POP agencies:
-
Jang Cheol Hyuk (SM ENTERTAINMENT)
-
Lee Jae Sang (HYBE)
-
Yang Min Seok (YG ENTERTAINMENT)
-
Jung Wook (JYP ENTERTAINMENT)
alongside PARK JIN YOUNG.
In gaming, CEOs from Nexon, NCSoft, and Krafton participate, while in webtoons and animation, companies like Naver, Kakao, and SAMG are represented. The other subcommittees also gather key figures from film, lifestyle, investment, and public policy sectors.
Additionally, the commission will include institutional members such as the presidential social secretary and vice ministers from ten ministries to strengthen public-private cooperation.
The Ministry of Culture also plans to create, alongside this commission, a Cultural and Arts Policy Advisory Council directly under the minister’s authority, bringing together about 90 experts from nine sectors to broaden strategic consultations.
