TAEIl
Former NCT member TAEIL has appealed to the Supreme Court after being sentenced to three years and six months in prison for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (aggravated rape).

On October 24, TAEIL, through his legal representative, filed an appeal against the decision rendered on appeal. It is reported that the two accomplices charged with the same acts also filed appeals.
TAEIL and two of his acquaintances are accused of sexually assaulting a Chinese tourist, Ms. ‘A,’ on June 13 of last year around 4 a.m., while she was so intoxicated that she could no longer stand.
Previously tried without detention, TAEIL was sentenced to three years and six months in prison during the first trial on July 1 and was immediately taken into custody. The court stated: “The defendant had successive sexual relations with the victim while she was incapacitated due to alcohol. The severity of the acts is extreme,” adding: “Given the prison sentence imposed, there is a risk of flight,” before issuing a detention order. Both the prosecution and the defendants appealed, claiming the sentence was unfair.
During the appeal trial held on October 17, the 11th-3rd Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court (Presiding Judges Park Young Joo, Park Jae Woo, and Jung Moon Kyung) upheld TAEIL’s prison sentence of three years and six months, the same as the original ruling. His two accomplices received the same sentence. The court also ordered each of them to complete 40 hours of a sexual offender treatment program and banned them from working for five years in institutions related to children, adolescents, and people with disabilities.
Having received the same sentence as in the first trial, TAEIL has decided to file an appeal with the Supreme Court. In criminal cases, an appeal to the Supreme Court must be submitted within seven days from the date of the ruling.
Attention is now focused on the final verdict that TAEIL will receive.
