DYNAMIC DUO
The Korean hip-hop duo DYNAMIC DUO is preparing to begin its national tour this month, as its 2014 song “Aeo” continues to rise on music charts around the world.
DYNAMIC DUO will hold two concerts in Busan on December 20 and 21, followed by performances in Daegu on December 24, in Gwangju on December 27, and in Seoul on January 23, 24, and 25.
The concerts come as the duo continues to experience chart success with “Aeo”.
Released in 2014 as the title track of the single “A GIANT STEP”, the song was immediately praised for its trendy yet dramatic melody, as well as its easy-to-sing chorus. The track also includes a sample from the 1980 song “Yesterday” by the group Starship Orchestra, adding an elegant depth to the music.
The song had already climbed back up the charts several years after its release, in 2023, a phenomenon called “yeokjuhaeng”, describing the fact that it “goes in the opposite direction”, when it was used in a dance challenge among K-pop stars in 2023.
The latest “yeokjuhaeng” occurs more than two years after the previous rise. K-pop stars from the groups ENHYPEN, HEARTS2HEARTS, CORTIS, NCT DREAM, ZEROBASEONE, BOYNEXTDOOR, LE SSERAFIM, TREASURE, RIIZE, EXO, &TEAM, TWS, IZNA, NMIXX and others took part in the video challenge.
According to the duo’s agency, AMOEBA CULTURE, challenge videos using “Aeo” as the soundtrack surpassed 130 million views in December.
The track was also used as the soundtrack for the basketball video game NBA 2K26.
