The member of the group EXO, LAY, will not participate in the new season of the variety show “EXO’S TRAVEL THE WORLD ON A LADDER”.
On December 24, the agency SM ENTERTAINMENT stated: “LAY will not be able to participate in the new season of “EXO’S TRAVEL THE WORLD ON A LADDER’ due to his personal schedule.”
Initially, six members of EXO, SUHO, CHANYEOL, D.O., KAI, SEHUN, and LAY, were scheduled to appear in the new season of the live variety show, airing after two years. Previously, “EXO’S TRAVEL THE WORLD ON A LADDER” aired for four seasons: the Japan edition in 2018, the Taiwan edition in 2019, the Namhae edition in 2022, and the Geoje & Tongyeong edition in 2023, receiving a warm welcome from international fans.
Previously, EXO members met their fans at the fanmeeting “EXO’VERSE,” held on the 14th at the Inspire Arena in Incheon, reconnecting with group activities after a long time. However, LAY announced his absence from the fanmeeting suddenly.
Amid fan concerns, LAY stated on Weibo:
“I returned urgently to Beijing to participate in an important event organized by the National Theatre. I sincerely apologize to everyone who was inconvenienced by my absence, to the members and the agency.”
With the final decision of LAY’s absence, fans who hoped for the full participation of all members for this new season of “EXO’S TRAVEL THE WORLD ON A LADDER” may feel some disappointment.
Additionally, EXO plans to release a studio album during the first quarter of next year.
