When K-pop meets European pop for an anthology moment!
South Korean singer KISU continues to weave musical connections across the globe. On February 20, he will unveil his new track, a cover of the hit “Feuerwerk” by German artist Wincent Weiss. This project marks a symbolic step in his solo career, confirming his desire to become an artist without borders.
For those discovering KISU, whose real name is Choi Ki-su, the artist is not a newcomer to the music scene. He debuted in 2012 as the main vocalist of the K-pop group 24K, known for energetic tracks like “Super fly”. After his military service and the gradual dissolution of the original group, he launched a solo career under the names SOO, then KISU, specializing in poignant ballads and personal compositions. Today, he leads a rich career, traveling from Europe to Latin America to meet his fans.
The track “Feuerwerk” is part of his ambitious project “SIDE B”, a series of covers in which KISU reinterprets international hits in their original language. This new song constitutes Volume 6 of this collection. Before this, KISU had already explored several linguistic and musical horizons:
- Vol. 1: “Les planètes” by M. Pokora (French)
- Vol. 2: “Saiai” by Masaharu Fukuyama (Japanese)
- Vol. 3: “Palagi” by TJ Monterde (Tagalog)
- Vol. 4: “Daqui pra sempre” by Manu Bahtidão (Portuguese)
- Vol. 5: “C’est la vie” by Khaled (French/Arabic)
With this sixth volume, he tackles the repertoire of Wincent Weiss, one of the major figures of contemporary German pop. “Feuerwerk” is a song originally released in 2017 that speaks about living in the present moment and celebrating every second as if it were fireworks. It is an anthem to joy and gratitude, themes that deeply resonate with KISU’s philosophy, as he always seeks to comfort his audience through his music.
By choosing to sing in German, KISU once again proves his dedication to his international fans and his ability to embody universal emotions, regardless of language barriers.
