SLAY
The producer and singer SLAY has enriched the ballad repertoire with heightened sensitivity.
On March 4 at noon KST, CUBE ENTERTAINMENT released on all digital platforms the digital single “그리워하다” accompanied by a live clip.
In the video, SLAY appears alone in an empty library, immersed in his memories. His nostalgic expression and sincere voice over piano chords captivate the listener and evoke recollections of a past relationship.
The single “그리워하다” is a reinterpretation of the title track from BTOB’s studio album “BROTHER ACT.” (2017), transformed into a winter ballad imbued with SLAY’s characteristic melancholy. His husky timbre and the minimalist arrangement centered on the vocals emphasize emotional nuances and convey the emptiness left after a lost love, creating an experience distinct from the original.
Previously, SLAY had already confirmed his position as an “emotional balladeer” with the remake “슬픔이 찾아와서 그래 (Prod. Rokoberry),” originally released by the singer-songwriter group LAS in 2024. With “그리워하다,” he further deepens his emotional expression, fully illustrating the ballad aesthetic.
Graduated from Berklee College of Music in the United States, SLAY debuted in 2018 with the single Scene, then formed the singer-songwriter group LAS in 2022, producing notably “봄노래” featuring Miyeon of I-DLE. He also participated in the OSTs for the JTBC dramas “Nevertheless” and “Miss night and day”, as well as musical work for JTBC’s “Peak Time”, consolidating his reputation as a versatile artist blending production and performance.
