OVUS: Before the debut, a busking performance and 10 songs to be presented

The group OVUS will make its debut next January with its 1st studio album.

Ahead of this, it plans to gradually unveil the music films for the 10 songs included in the album over a 10-week period.

Its agency OFMUSIC ENTERTAINMENT revealed the debut plan for OVUS on November 4. After presenting a teaser calendar containing the release schedule of the music films on the 1st, it revealed the tracklist of the 1st studio album on the 2nd.

OVUS will unveil its first music film “Blue rose” on November 7 at 12:00 PM KST. Subsequently, the group will present one song per week every Saturday, for a total of 10 songs along with the music films for each track. The final video will be unveiled on January 9, and the group plans to make its official debut at the same time as the release of the 1st studio album during that same month.

Unlike rookie idol groups who generally begin their activities with a single or a mini-album, OVUS prepared a studio album bringing together 10 songs right from the start. The group also opted for a method consisting of promoting all included titles without designating a separate lead track. General producer CiELO (his real name Kim Ji Hyun), representative of OFMUSIC, stated: “We are confident in the level of completion to the point of being proud that all 10 songs constitute lead tracks.”

In this project, 10 music films are linked to form one and the same story. Although each video contains independent content, the structure was thought out so that they form a single work when put end-to-end. The directing was entrusted to director Shin Hee Won. Director Shin is a figure who produced the music videos for “Attention” and “Super shy” by NEWJEANS, “View” by SHINee, as well as “Automatic” by RED VELVET.

The 10 music film teaser posters revealed previously showcase the four members. They created different atmospheres against the backdrop of a sunset sky, a forest, or a musical workspace. The music films will express the story of the members with youth as a theme.

OVUS is a 4-member group composed of KD, HAE SEONG, LYNN, and JEON SEO. The group’s name is inspired by “OF US” (from us) and “OVER US” (beyond us). By sporting “One Voice, Unified Sound” as a slogan, it contains the meaning that four members with different backgrounds create one and the same music together.

The agency explained that all members can handle vocals and performances, while participating in writing lyrics, composing, and playing instruments.

The 1st studio album will contain 10 songs: “Blue rose”, “Amigo”, “Dayflower”, “Dizzy”, “Fate”, “Still”, “Everlasting flame”, “Step4me”, “Believer”, and “Finally, us”. It is composed of several genres such as ballads, mid-tempo, and band sounds, and all four members participated in writing the lyrics.

Solo songs by member are also included. KD will present “Amigo”, JEON SEO “Dayflower”, HAE SEONG “Still”, and LYNN “Everlasting flame”. “Dizzy” is a song whose lyrics were written jointly by the four members.

WYATT of the group ONF participated in composing JEON SEO’s solo song, “Dayflower”. The production of the entire album was entrusted to the music production company CIELOGROOVE.

Representative CiELO, who supervised the production of OVUS, comes from the composition department of Yonsei University and participated in the musical work of artists such as KIM JAE JOONG, APINK, and NIZIU. He also made himself known as a member of the production team for audition shows “Peak Time”, “Fantasy Boys”, and “Scool”.

After being in charge of A&R work at P NATION and POCKETDOL STUDIO, he founded CIELOGROOVE in 2021. He was also involved in the entirety of OVUS’s debut project, from discovering the members to music production and planning video content.

OFMUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, founded this year by representative CiELO, attracted investments from the Japanese mobile game company COLOPL. COLOPL is a company listed on the Prime market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. OVUS is the first artist group presented by OFMUSIC ENTERTAINMENT.

Starting with “Blue rose” on November 7, OVUS will unveil the music films for “Amigo” on the 14th, “Dayflower” on the 21st, and “Dizzy” on the 28th. In December, the group will present “Fate” on the 5th, “Still” on the 12th, “Everlasting flame” on the 19th, and “Step4me” on the 26th. Then, it will conclude this 10-week project by unveiling “Believer” on January 2 and “마침내, 우리” on the 9th.
