Today August 7, 2017, WANNA ONE held their first Showcase/Concert “Showcon“, at the Seoul Skydome.
Some debuts in great pomp and in front of a large public. Mnet and YMC Entertainment have not done things in half, as WANNA ONE ‘s debuts — the winning group of Produce 101 season 2 — were held at the Seoul Skydome, a huge concert hall, with more than 20,000 fans.
Following a press conference in the afternoon (see our article), the group’s 11 boys: Daniel, Jihoon, Daehwi, Jaehwan, Seongwu, Woojin, Kuanlin, Jungung, Jinyung, Minhyun and Sungwoon stepped on stage in front a vibrant audience.
As the lights go out, fans light their lightsticks symbolizing the number “1” and the first video featuring each member begins. The screams prove the extent of the phenomenon “WANNA ONE“, with “To be one” playing in the back, the group’s first mini-album intro.
The show is launched with the appearance of the 11 young men on “Never“. The audience literally ignites, while the boys of WANNA ONE dominate the immense scene that was dedicated to them. They then go on with the title “Hands on me“. These 2 first songs coming from the program that revealed them.
It is now time for each of the boys to get introduced to the public with a first “Talk”. Ong Seung Wu is the one to go first and how to do it better than with his famous:
“정말, 진짜, 리얼… ” (for real, really, real)
Which aims to express enormous thanks to all the fans who have supported them throughout the show and so far.
Each member expresses, successively, his gratitude to all those who have, from near or far, encouraged their journey and their adventure. And it is followed by a listening of the mini-album’s medley, “To be one“, whith each boy confiding his impressions on the tracks composing it, and the madness of “Produce 101”.
The 11 young men then talk about the different advertisements they have made, especially for a brand of beer in which only the members of age have participated. This gives the emcee the opportunity to ask the youngsters to make a small extract of the advertisement, with “a bottle of water“, thus enabling them also to reveal their sex appeal and acting skills.
The “WANNA NEWS” enhance this moment of speech, during which the making of the songs “Energetic” and “Burn it up” is shown. As well as few photos from some of the members before their debut, even in their childhood. The emcee then thanks the members’ mothers for these pictures.
Time to move on to new stage performances. The group starts with the song “Wanna be”, a fun track in which the “mimics” of each member are reprised.
Then comes the time to discover the most 2 important songs: one that fans chose for the group’s debut, thanks to votes (more than 2 million), “Energetic“. A track with a Summer vibe and a MV which came out at 6pm KST, the same day.
And “Burn it up“, more masculine and rhythmic, which was the second song in race to be chosen for the debuts. At this moment, only the fans present at the concert were able to watch the video for this track.
After another moment of speech, where the boys present the packaging of their first mini-album, it is already time to announce the end of this first “Showcon“. But, right before, 11 fans get the chance to grab a towel thrown by each member in the audience.
Fans are asking for more and more, with increasingly loud screams. The group does not hesitate and here it is, back with 2 tracks for an encore. “이자 리에“, an accoustic song, filled with emotions.
And, it could not have been done otherwise, WANNA ONE end up with “나야 나“, the theme song of the show “Produce 101 S2”.
The 11 boys have difficulties leaving the stage and the public to leave the Skydome, the bond uniting them having been solidified all along the weeks of the program. The group is now formed and its debuts are launched. Some pharaonic debuts where WANNA ONE easily conquered the fans present and announced a world tour.
The second half of the year will be “WANNA ONE“.
