IZ, a band from MusicK entertainment, introduced themselves to journalists during their press showcase for their debut mini album “All You Want“, August 31rd, at Yes24 Live Hall.
The four members of the group, IZ, composed of JIHOO (leader and main vocal), WOOSU (drummer), HYUNJUN (guitarist) and JUNYOUNG (bass and maknae), from 19 to 17 years old introduce a music style different from the other Korean rock group. Even though the agency is known for representing Hong Jin Young, it is the first time after the trot singer that the agency make another artist debut.
Both far and close to the heritage given by the great names of the Korean rock music, the 5 songs of the album, in which the musical arrangement is wonderful to the ears, varies from the rock “garage” of “너라서” to the Tropical House and EDM of “저격해´”.
After the phototime, they introduced the album highlight medley. The song “Prologue storm” seduces us by its very rock feeling, 다해 and its melody which stays with us, 너라서 par sa douceur, 저격해 by its dancing melody, 너도 나처럼 a soft ballade to seduce fans. Before answering the journalists’ questions, they performed their title song “다해” and the M/V was revealed.
JIHOO, the leader, says to be “happy to have been able to perform on stage in front of journalists”. HYUNJUN, according to him, defines their introduction “Open your eyes” : the idea that even though there are other bands, they, as well, can move the fans. WOOSU and JUNHYUNG showed us the pose which symbolised the title song “다해”.
Even before their debut, the did buskings, concerts and played on the Chinese stages, to be able to meet fans and give the best they could on stage. JIHOO entrusts us that he wants to participate in the Park So Hyun radio show, “Taste road” for HYUNJUN and “Law of the jungle” for WOOSU.
JIHOO hopes that they will be able to see their M/V on television, WOOSU would like to be able to do buskings, in Philippines more precisely, and JUNHYUN wishes that their song stay in the audience’s head and that they like it. While WOOSU would love to do a “hug” event overseas, JIHOO wants to make their song known.
They are inspired by idol bands such as FT ISLAND and CNBLUE (FNC ent.). What makes different from the moment is that the two previously cited groups wrote their own songs, but IZ promise to write their next songs. They are debuting at the same time that N.FLYING (FNC ent.) are promoting and DAY6 (JYP ent.) are making their comeback. Even though they hope to be able to learn from those rock groups, the music style of their album is different, 저격해’s melody is more tropical house than rock.
Being an idol band, they asked themselves if they should add a small choreography to their performance but since JIHOO is the only one singing, and that they wanted to keep a pure image of a band, they decided to focus on the musical performance instead.
Before being on stage for Fantastic Duo (with the singer Yang Hee Eun), JIHOO says to have been extremely nervous but that it was an enriching experience. He sang a song a-cappella, showing his vocal range. JUNHYUN played clarinet, before focusing on bass.
They ended their performance with 저격해, thanked the journalists before going to prepare themselves for the fan showcase, at 19h.
