
According to BLACKPINK‘s YG Entertainment, the clip for “Ddu-du ddu-du” exceeded 1.1 billion views on YouTube this March 24th at noon, a year and nine months after its release.
“Ddu-du ddu-du” is the title track of BLACKPINK‘s first mini-album “SquARE UP“, released in June 2018. The choreography features a pistol-like performance with both hands, and it caused a boom cover dances for fans since its release, ranking # 1 in the “K-pop music video the world has seen the most” that year.
BLACKPINK is the first K-pop girls group to be awarded the Diamond Creator Awards, which means more than 10 million subscribers on its YouTube channel. It currently has 33.9 million subscribers, the largest channel for a local group.
The clip for “Ddu-du ddu-du” exceeded one billion views on YouTube last November. It is the first time since Psy that the clip of a singer of K-pop reaches 1 billion views, and the first for a group of idols.
